So I wanted to take the time and share with you what my 2016 New Year Resolution was and what I accomplish this past year. Ok here it goes, I accomplished NOTHING! It is hard to admit it and even harder to accepted. So the only thing I wrote for my Exploring California dream in 2016 was a “California Road Trip.”
I know I got out last year, not as much as I would have liked but I did visit new places. I looked through my photos and found that I did get out. Here is my recap of 2016
I visited the Cabrillo National Monument for the first time. I fell in love with this place that I bought a year pass to come visit again and again. I even took several family members to enjoy this beautiful place.
I heard of Writerz Blok but never seen it. I was interesting to me to see that the County of San Diego allowed a park with walls for graffiti artists to express themselves. Every one to two months the walls are painted white again for artists to show off their skills.
The same day I visited Writerz Blok I went to their 1st Annual Poets and Painter’s Festival. I really enjoyed it, great music and it has the potential to grow to a large festival. There was a contest for graffiti artists to show their skills on a white wall.
One weekend I jumped in the car and drove up to Palomar Mountain, beautiful place with great views. I plan on visiting again.
Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site was a hidden ranch in the middle of Long Beach.
I finally drove up the castle I see when I drove down the I-5 freeway in San Diego. Turns out it was a Temple belonging to the Church of Latter Day Saints. Outsiders are not allowed to enter the temple but I was able to see photos of the inside. It is amazing!
I went on several hikes last year however I didn’t take good documentation of where I went and how long it took. What I do remember was the flowers I found along the trail.
Cuyamaca Rancho State Park was such a beautiful peaceful place to visit. I saw so much wildlife. I even saw wild turkeys. Yes, it is big deal for to see wild turkeys because I grow up in the city and the only turkeys I saw was the Butter Balls in the grocery store. It is nice to see their ugly faces and beautiful feathers attached to their body.
Lastly, I visited the Safari Park in Escondido; I use to have a membership to both San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, now they are only memories.
So although I didn’t accomplish my 2016 New Year’s Resolution I am happy that I did get out and visit some cool places. Don’t focus on what you didn’t do. Focus on what you have done and will do in the future. 2017 will be a great challenge and I am looking forward to it. If you are interested in seeing some videos of the places of visited please see the links below or visit my Facebook Page. Happy New Year!
